TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 29, 2001--Computer Management Consultants (CMC), a leading provider of information technology solutions, today announced that its OakScape e-business division has secured multiple contracts for the newest wireless version of its web-based interface framework application.

The agreements immediately followed the early October announcement that OakScape had completed development of the latest technology, and were received from three major companies including a transportation and logistics services leader, a renowned television information services and data ratings company, and a major local utility company.

The contracts all call for OakScape's newest technology to be used in diverse business-to-business applications, which incorporates Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and JAVA 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) architecture to provide a versatile wireless framework. With OakScape's wireless application, mobile users can access and display data from virtually anywhere, using literally any kind of device including cell phones, personal digital assistants, and interactive pagers.

Since CMC/OakScape announced its new technology, the company has received considerable attention and says that additional contracts are already near closing. "This opens up many new and very broad-based markets for us," said Tom Ciurej, director of operations at CMC/OakScape. "Coupled with our consulting services and IT staffing division, OakScape's e-business developments help position us for substantial growth in the information technology arena. Specifically, development of wireless applications in business-to-business markets will increase significantly. Because our latest technology is non-industry-specific, any organization with a large, remote sales force, or that has a crucial need to manage data remotely, will benefit from our wireless application since it is non-device-specific as well."

According to Ciurej, CMC expects the new technology to become the standard for wireless applications in the future, and believes it will help strengthen the company's position while it explores strategic alternatives to achieve its growth goals with New York-based CLB Partners, LLC, a leading financial advisory services company that manages mergers and acquisitions for middle market companies. "Every industry is moving toward wireless technology," said Ciurej, "and OakScape is on the forefront of helping make that happen. Wireless technology takes the Œplace' out of the transaction, which means companies no longer have to be dependent on a physical anchor, like a cable or phone cord. Our newest development takes that one step further-companies no longer have to be dependent on any particular device to send or receive data."

As an example, Ciurej cited the story of a major shipping company that utilizes employee hand-held signature pads to help track shipment deliveries, but wants to relay the same information to its customers directly, real-time. "Although OakScape has developed this technology for any number of applications and industries, one of the wireless interfaces we developed, called Shipment Visibility, is specifically used by the transportation/logistics industry," explained Ciurej. "Shipment Visibility allows data to be sent directly to a customer, regardless of what kind of device is being used by that customer on the receiving end. Additionally, many remote users of older wireless technology could not transfer information if they were out of a specified zone. With our new solution, wireless users can now complete transactions and experience full functionality regardless of location or device."
