James D. Parrino, Ph.D.
A founding partner of CLB, Jim has served as an advisor to financial institutions and corporations on corporate finance matters since 1985, and is currently on the finance faculty at Babson College. He has served as an instructor and developer of corporate finance programs for domestic and international audiences. His training engagements include the delivery of customized courses in the U.S., Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Australia. In addition to his training responsibilities, Jim has served as an advisor to corporations on valuation, restructuring and financial policy issues. He has also served as an expert witness for issues related to valuation and mergers.Prior to CLB, Jim was with Ernst & Whinney as a manager of accounting and financial consulting engagements for clients in several industries.
Jim has written several case studies in finance, as well as customized spreadsheet software applications for corporate valuation and for training purposes. Research interests include valuation and related topics including merger acquisitions, corporate strategy, and optimal capital structures. He has authored articles dealing with the effects of taxation on international mergers/acquisitions, and the impact of corporate merger strategies and industry structure on the success of merger transactions.
Jim holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Darden Graduate School of Business, University of Virginia. He received his M.B.A. in Finance from George Washington University. He earned his B.S. from the Fisher School of Accounting at the University of Florida. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
